I admire this spot! They offer high quality food, they have a rich menu, The chef in that restaurant is very experienced, I enjoy a lot trying all their dishes. The food is always fresh and tasty, the attitude towards the customers is agreeable. I go often to this place and I not even once was unhappy. I recommend it to all.

Obviously understaffed. We were seated & brought coffee & menus. We proceeded to sit for 20+ minutes with zero other acknowledgement. Others were seated & orders taken, however the wait staff did not even glance a second time in our direction. We both finished the cup of coffee & no refill was offered. We left with our menus still sitting on the table. I’m sure the food is good, but that is the absolute worst service I’ve ever received.

1st time eating here. The place was crowded and that is a good sign. Ordered breakfast #2. Order came quickly...eggs perfectly over easy, burger patty done to my requested rareness and potatoes were a cut above the usual hash browns. 2 thick pieces of homemade toast completed the meal. My only peeve...no Worcestershire sauce but that's not unusual. Will definitely be returning.

WONDERFUL STAFF & GREAT FOOD!

Randomly, I was in the area of Vallejo to help a buddy out. On the way there, I ran across this little diner-esk establishment. Not really knowing what to expect in the area, I decided to give it a shot.Without a doubt, I'm so glad that I did. I'm a huge fan of grease spoon places, and this place delivered. Getting a regular breakfast platter with corn beef hash was amazing.A particular stand out was the toast. They have homemade bread and man is it good. They also sell it by itself as a loaf. Overall, I recommend this place whole heatedly and the next time I'm in the area, I'll be back.

I just ordered their breakfast and what beautiful hearty plate of food. It's a tad on the expensive side but it's quite a lot of food and very tasty! Thank you for making your food delicious.

Very dirty, sugar top are dirty. Terrible service our waitress never offer more coffe or tea....she was too busy talking to a guy for about 15 minutes, she grave our plates she had them holding on her hand and she still kept talking to him. They expect not to take too long eating since there is clients waiting on the door but they take long bringing the food. Also the corner table close to the door people kept bumping on to the table and one of those times the water cup splash my phone. Food was great.

It is always going to be my favorite cafe! I live out of the state now, but always have to go when I'm in town. Their bread is the BEST thing!!!! Everything made with it is awesome! It can be really busy, so it might take a while, but I think they do their best to keep up, have always been happy with the service!

Morning rules: come and Pay Homage to the King of Breakfast, the Joy of Eating cafe. It doesn't matter whether its cereal cooked to perfection (why is it so much better here? Mystery oatmeal goodness. Or the French toast, I have pictures... Gotta come and enjoy this. Its not hyperbole, their Baked Bead is THAT good. get some to go.

The fresh bread is the heart of this restaurant! Also the omelettes and potatoes come in generous portions. Service is great! This place fills up fast but worth the wait if no tables are immediately available.

Been going to this place most of my life. Great breakfast spot and lunch is also good. I usually go for breakfast and get the California omelette. Amazing! Made with real crab. Only thing, it's very small dining and the wait can be crazy sometimes. Better to go early or order to go. I would only stay and eat, if you have time as you'll need it. Definitely check it out if your in the neighborhood.

We came on recommendation from our Air B&B host for breakfast. Our server was almost a sit com diner waitress, efficient and no nonsense. Servings were huge. They are famous for the their bread and the toast was really good. Nothing exceptional but definitely good and budget friendly.

My first time coming here and I was not disappointed! This was definitely comfort food. Will be coming here on weekends, lol!

I ate at this place over a year ago while on a trip to California and still think about it. Their homemade bread fills my dreams from time to time. Glad I bought a loaf of bread while there. It helped keep the fantasy alive for a while when I returned home. I visited their website today in the hopes of them offering the bread online.

Breakfast is top tier level. The toast is bread made in house and every order of breakfast comes with it, the hash is the best hash in the state hands down. Like if you think your even slightly in the mood for breakfast just come here for the potatoes everything else is extra. The eggs Benedict are out of this world, and i can only say good things. The staff is welcoming and helpful but ps( its self seating you get in where you fit in)

I have been coming to The Joy of Eating for years now. It's a small establishment. They have the BEST toast ever. They bake it there daily. The breakfast are delicious, the burgers are huge and delicious.

Nice staff, tasty food. Table and booth, condiments clean, but place needs a thorough clean and a spruce up of paint. Walls and ceiling look like they survived a beating. Bathroom needs a thorough clean, behind the sink, around doorknob, corners, walls, top of soap dispenser, and window sill.

A local diner with traditional menu and experienced waitresses. Very professional and proud of their thick bread. Reasonable prices for breakfast and lunch. Generous portions. Busy at peak times. Be patient, the food is worth the wait.
